Get your track out of a Garmin chartplotterA Garmin chartplotter saves its tracks to a memory card. Garmin’s BaseCamp program for Windows and Mac reads a chartplotter’s card and exports GPX, which is the file Seamark needs. The steps follow the current GPSMAP manual.

On the chartplotter, save the track: select Where To > Tracks, then the save-active-track icon, then the time the active track began (or Entire Log), and Save.

Insert a memory card into the card slot.

Select Where To, then the Menu button, then Manage User Data > Data Transfer > Save All to Card. Select Add New File and enter a name.

Take the card out and put it into a computer with Garmin BaseCamp installed.

In BaseCamp, select Transfer > Receive from Device, then OK when the card is found.

Select the track, then File > Export > Export Selection on Windows (File > Export Selected User Data on a Mac), and save it as GPS eXchange Format (.gpx).

With the file in hand, open the leg in Seamark and choose Upload GPX track. Seamark drops the GPS glitches, works out the distance, times, speeds and night hours, and draws the track on the chart.Menu and button names are quoted as the vendor's own documentation writes them, in English.
